Went to Emil Chau Wakin concert on saturday night in San Francisco. The last concert i went was by Jay Chou, about 5 years ago in malaysia. This one SF civic hall is nothing compared to Bukit Jalil, probably not even half the number of seatings. Small arena is good though. We can see it pretty clear even though we were on the cheapest seat. His classic songs are awesome, and totally remind me of my primary standard six. 爱相随 was extremely popular that time. Oh the good old cassette era with Walkman! I hope i didn't throw my walkman away. Strange enough, we were only 12 years old back then yet we listened to all these lovey-dovey songs like 孤枕难眠,让我欢喜让我忧. And not forgetting the boy-girl rumor thingy. There are always a few popular girls in class whom every boy wished to desk-partner with. Haha... so funny! All these memories have become jokes for us to LOL whenever we have our primary school gathering (yes we still have gathering all these years!). My primary SRJK jelutong rocks!
Then I saw my colleugue bringing both his parents attending the concert. I can imagine if i offer to buy my parents concert tickets. I bet my dad will go mad and like "don't waste the money!" Mom knows dad damn well that I think she doesn't even try to persuade him to go with her on a trip to China this year. Don't get me wrong, my father is not stingy, he is just being frugal, which I think is good. I was brought up in such a way that i always think twice before spending. Anyhow I realized we haven't done whole-family outing for LONG LONG time. If i remember correctly, the last family trip with 5 of us was at least 12 years ago! I wonder if we get to do it once again. See! that's what happens when parents getting older while the grown-up kids are busy with own work. How I wish my parents are 10 years younger. Anyway, I am glad that my parents came to US last May and had great fun. Staying away from home and working in the US sometimes make me feel bad about this family thing. Some successful people always brag about striking a balance between career and family. I must say that's no doubt a feat to be proud of.
