A friend brought me to temple in Oakland yesterday. I haven't been to any temple in US before. It was a 法会. This is still the first time I actually went through full 2 hours prayer including reading mantra that I have no idea about. Overall it was a good experience. The monk was saying that it's just hard for some people to get to know Buddha or God, like you need some sort of opportunity or destiny to know it. Totally agreed, right now I just don't have a strong sense of Buddhism. In Malaysia people are mixing up Taoism and Buddhism, that most of the people don't even know what they believe in. In a way, christianity/Islam has a better way of teaching its followers. At least it "looks" like christians/muslims really know what they believe in.
