2010 comes and goes and we are in 2011 now. I wanted to have the usual drill of recalling events in 2010 but I had so much fun for the past few weeks before the new year that i forgot the existence of this blog. So here I am doing the cliche thing, reflecting on stuff that happened in 2010 (not in chronological order).

1) 2010 wasn't a very good year for my family members. Accident befell on my dad and though he has since recovered, he will have to live with the long-term effect of unpredictable seizure. His memory deteriorates too. All these put quite a bit of pressure on mum's shoulder. Unfortunate events unfolded in series later in the year, with my grandmother having a stroke, and my 2nd aunty followed suit. Good thing is, they are recovering now. Hopefully everyone stays safe and be blessed with good health in 2011.

2) Sister getting married. The tradition wedding banquet hasn't been carried out so i think the wedding is not quite done yet but still it's something to cherish about.

3) Sold my Suzuki Sv650. Reckoning that one mishap is all it takes to mess up your life, I decided that riding is too risky for my liking. Oh well, at least i have ridden my dream.

4) Ran across Golden Gate Bridge and finished 26.2-mile SF marathon. It was quite an achievement in my dull life.

5) Hiked quite a few places: McNee State Park, Point Lobos State Reserve, Pinnacle National Monuments, Yellowstone National Park, Redwood National Park, Narrows in Zion National Park. Camping in Zion, with temperature under 0 degree and intermittent strong wind gust, is one of the highlights. The chill felt despite wrapping yourself with multiple layers of jacket while sleeping in a 40 degree-rated sleeping-bag is certainly an experience.

6) Had a great vacation in Japan in December. I had always wanted to visit this country, and what's better than going to a dream place with my gf during the Christmas. We survived another year of LDR and our relationship is stronger than before. With that said, the movie "going the distance" will always have a special meaning to us. It's like a movie specially made for us:)

7) Work was so-so. Nothing particularly interesting. Career plateau? I hope not. I will soon be applying jobs back in Penang and I shall see if my skill set is valuable to the market or not. My financial situation is pretty stable, though I would like to see higher returns from my investment portfolios. Who wouldn't want that?

That pretty much sums up my life in 2010. Not that interesting but who is to judge that mediocre life is not good enough? Happy new year everyone!
