Having heard of so many accidents recently, it totally make senses to equip myself with some first aid knowledge. So here i am with my CPR + AED (Automated external defibrillator) certificate. Hopefully I don't have to practice my skill on anyone. It's a shame, I should have learnt about these life-saving techniques from high school uniform body's training but I was pretty ignorant of extra-curriculum back then:(
Oh well it's never too late to learn something useful. I recently discovered this website khandacademy and was amazed. It's a non-profit website founded by Salman Khan, who gave up his lucrative job as a hedge fund analyst and dedicated his full time teaching online. Very noble indeed. Most of the videos are academic tutorials with difficulty ranging from easy to college level but there are also interesting topics such as banking and finance. The amount of knowledge made available by him is amazingly vast and useful. The math portion are particularly comprehensive that if i have a kid in school i will force him/her to watch one everyday. I actually learnt quite a bit from some seemingly basic topic like this:
Now only i know why antibiotics is bad for health if not taken properly. I always thought it can be detrimental because the bacteria grows immune of it. It never occurs to me that it's due to natural selection. Thanks Khanacademy! "Everyone can learn now!"
