There has been rumor about reorganization in our group. Everyone is speculating about who is going to switch group, who is getting promoted, demoted, or even laid-off etc. To make me more uneasy, my boss expressed his intention in interviewing with other companies. Another issue is that, many of the current projects are owned by another group of people based in Arizona, and this really concerns our job security. I am feeling the heat of career crisis. Maybe it's time to start sending resume again:( In fact, it would be nice to get some interviews, not necessary to get the job but to at least gauge my own market value. But before i leave or being laid off, it would be wise to use up company dental and vision benefit. So I just made an appointment with a dentist. My last dental check was way overdue, hopefully this coming visit will not be a painful one.
Last friday my boss treated my group a lunch. After that he brought us to his million-dollar house and showed us his 60k sound system. The house is neatly designed and it's huge, like 2000+ sq ft not counting the front/backyard which are twice as big as the studio i am staying right now. No doubt my manager can be qualified as "diamond" bachelor. In the future I don't care if i drive a nice car but having a spacious home is definitely a dream comes true. To get a bungalow unit in Penang is kinda impossible but I should aim for semi-detached. Now that's my target:)
US economy is looking worse these days with gas price touching $4/gallon last week. Stock market has been extremely volatile. I cut my loss again and i think it's a good move. On the other hand, my tax refund came in this week but after thinking twice maybe it's better to put them in bank rather than risk it all.
Today I went to temple in celebration of Kuan Yin's birthday. I prayed for everyone's good health, especially for my grandfather who is getting better nowadays. And the funniest thing is that they actually sang "happy birthday" to Kuan Yin in the end of the ceremony:)
And this is amusing:
