Duck rescue. Last wednesday, a mother duck together with its 11 babies came to the pond in my company.


They got stranded. Although the mother duck could get out from the pond easily, the duckies were simply too small to jump out from it. Not leaving her kids behind, the mum just kept swimming, circling around the water to find a way out.

No worry. It's their lucky day as Shawn, David and I came to their rescue. We constructed a makeshift ramp using a folding table and a chair, so that the ducky can get out from the pond.

Ramp constructed, however, it's not easy to get them came up. We even put some cereal to lure them. I concluded that ducks are stupid.

Finally, after about 30 minutes, one ducky was smart enough to go up the ramp. The hopeful mother was happily waiting for all her babies to come out. But the rest are not learning well. They were still pretty much stuck.

The impatient mother then jumped into the water again. And the only baby duck that got up, followed:(

We were all like "arghhhhhhhh, stupid!". Dumbass. But maybe this time around the mother already knew what to do. Not long after, she gathered the duckies around the ramp and made 2nd escaping attempt. And it looked promising.






At last all of them got out safely. Apparently they were exhausted. The duckies then cuddled around their mummy and rest peacefully. Happy ending for the ducks, and for us too. It felt great to save 11 stranded ducks.

Now where can I find good roasted duck rice?
