Was talking to neighbor who sent his kids to International School.  Knowing that international school fees is exorbitant, he first expressed no intention to brag but he felt that international school offers much well-rounded education experience to kids. I can totally understand the "well rounded" aspect of it. I was lucky enough to experience that in the US college.

Now back to the kids. Knowing that I probably couldn't afford to send kids for International School which cost RM70k per kids per year, I have this inclination towards independent school such as CL independent. A fine Saturday I purposely went CL and CL Independent, and felt that the atmosphere of CL Independent is somewhat more lively. Intentionally or not, I hired an intern graduated from CL Independent and tried to validate the study environment there from intern's first hand information.

Pro of going government school (controlled school)

1. kids probably has more friends going to government school, so she may be more comfortable (at first)

2. this is sole perception - good kids go good government school. Second-tier kids go independent school because they can't get in to good government school.

3. Free.

4. Again this is perception - good government school are more competitive.

5. Leave local university option opened

Pro of going to independent school (I prefer IGCSE over UEC)

1. Probably offers much "well-rounded" education, both academic as well as activities.

2. Syllabus wise I believe is better than national scheme.

3. Ideally class room is conducted in English.

The struggling part is that I don't have way to validate my thought.
