Penang is having 4-day water cut ass we speak, putting everyone under stress. Didn't sleep well last night as I had a long talk with wife. I am not in a very good mood and felt rather under-appreciated at home. Anyway, my Volvo 1st service was scheduled long before so I brought it in to service center at 9.30pm, was told to wait for 5 hours !  Certainly didn't help to uplift any spirit. There's no refreshment prepared, so it felt less class compared even Honda service center. Working from Federal Auto office till 12pm and looking for lunch along Sungai Pinang.  Took a walk outside to the shop that I intended to go for lunch, expectedly it was closed due to water supply issue. There's no other eatery shop around that I know of along this street. What a day.

Then I saw this little unassuming "under-the-tree" kind of kopitiam along the the street, run by an old 70+ aunty selling fried rice. You won't notice it on our usual drive pass. This is godsend I thought and went in without hessitation.

The fried rice is nothing to shout about but it is more than enough to make my day! Saw an 80 plus (homeless I supposed) old uncle came in.  The old aunty gave this uncle a kaya bao with a cup of chinese tea. She even peeled the bao skin, murmuring to the old uncle that she only does this because she is free (not many customer at the time). Apparently they know each other well enough. Before I left, I confirmed with the aunty if the uncle is homeless. I passed her RM10 note to cover the meal, ask her to keep the change or give it to the uncle. Old aunty smiled, saying something to the uncle as I walked out this little kopitiam, with my mood upswing to a very happy state. Fore sure both the old aunty and uncle are appreciative.

The AhHongLobang spirit is real. Of all the thing I want to teach my kids, this may be the hardest to practice.

Happiness doesn't end there, another Volvo V60 cheered me up ! It is extremely rare to bump into another V60.  The driver was as excited as I did, overtaking me with a honk. We sorta follow each other from LCE highway all the way to my office for a good 15 min. I bet he was thinking why another V60 is following him. At the traffic light turning into my office, I rolled down the windows and say hi to him, turned out that he is staying at the Setia Garden. Can't say I am a car guy but this is golden. It reminisces the good of days of riding SV650 together with David/Jeff S2000.
