I can't believe the gas price has been setting record high almost everyday for the past 2 weeks. Right now it's over $4/gallon for the cheapest non premium. Gas price up == US stocks down:( Even though I live very close to work and drive a small car, i still see the gas price taking its toll on me. Now imagine some of my colleagues who drive SUV that gives meager 12 mpg and commutes 70 miles a day! In the effort of saving some gas, nowadays i consciously drive slower, less acceleration, rolling stop when i see traffic light turns red from far, turning a/c off whenever possible etc. I don't know how much it saves me but I think these are good practice, good for both environment and safety.

2008 CMU commencement just over. Friends keep posting graduation photos on facebook and reminds me that i have been away from school for 1.5 years now. Al Gore came as the keynote speaker for the graduation ceremony. And there's a surprise visit by the famous dying Professor Randy Pausch. While he is counting his days, from the video you can't really tell that he is critically ill. Doctor expected he will have 3-6 months to live and he is in his 9-month now, kudos! CMU is indeed a nice place because there are many amazing people around. Maybe I will visit cmu again when my cousin graduates 2 years from now. Videos:

Al Gore's speech, starting with great joke reminiscent of his former vice presidency and dragged on to the inconvenient truth thingy

Randy Pausch's speech, which is always very inspiring considering his current health status.

For my graduation last year, it was Bill Cosby giving keynote speech and I don't find it any interesting. No wonder I couldn't find a decent video of it on youtube:(

After my Israel trip was canceled, i got a call from the Israeli embassy last week saying my visa has been approved. Wth! Nonetheless, they are considerate enough to not stamping the visa on my passport. Instead the visa is placed on a separate piece of paper. It's a useless paper now but it's kinda cool since i don't think many malaysia has this kind of visa:

It's a long weekend with Memorial day on Monday. So what? Apart from the extra off day, as a foreigner, I don't feel much connected with the public holiday in the US. So my way of celebration, went for 4 hours karaoke followed by 2 hours bubble tea chit-chat session! Haven't done these for a while and karaoke never fails to entertain me.

Another heart touching pics for ending. Dogs are wonderful. When you have difficult times, think about this:
