A little bit late but still Happy Chinese New Year! As much as I wanted to go back, my limited vacation doesn't allow me to do that so I am stuck here. The CNY spirit here is definitely weak, almost non-existent I would say. On Saturday I went to my CMU friends, C and YL's house at Pacifica for a potluck. Coincidentally, one of their housemate is from Penang and graduated from CLHS. He invited a few of his CLHS friends to the gathering, and right there you have a bunch of joker penangites talking cock in hokkien. That's the only CNY spirit I got there!

YL, being an environmentalist, bought a used honda civic hybrid and is trying to sell off his Miata Speed. It's definitely not easy to give up a sports car for a civic on the name of "green". Unfortunately there's a problem with the used hybrid, it smells bad. For normal people we will probably buy some heavy duty air freshener to do the job. My friend however is no ordinary person. He always goes a step further than what other people do. Remember the Darfur Crisis? I pitied the Darfur refugees, hence donated some money. YL flew all the way to Darfur to help! Here's what he did to get rid of the smell in his car:

Don't be fool by YL skinny look. He freaking dismantled the interior of the car and cleaned it! To a mechanical hopeless like me that's amazing. I am not even sure if I can handle the oil change for my motorcycle. Shame shame.

So finally Obama sworn in as 44th US president. Watched the inaugural speech but I don't find it particularly impressive. Randy Pausch's speech is still much better but that's on a totally different topic. Maybe I am just not too attached to "the US". But i want to thank you Mr. Obama and his family, for what they choose to wear. That night they wore J. Crew, the next day JCG just jumped like 10%. I own a bit of that stock:) Oh man this is totally random! Americans in general are very upbeat about the new government because they are finally out of the "bush". At any rate it is still too early to conclude that obama is a great leader. It takes time to make changes and we shall judge him 4 years later. Having said that, how does DAP do in Penang? Does the opposition government lives up to their promise during the election?

Recent nice song from Janice:

Happy CNY and better year ahead!
